Moyle HVDC Transmission Project - Management Services Assistance Contract for Commissioning and Operations and Maintenance

MHI specialists providing engineering and management services were assigned for three years to assist Siemens in meeting it’s commissioning and post commissioning responsibilities. MHI provided operations and maintenance services, including technology transfer and creation of an Operations and Maintenance (O&M) function within the related UK and Irish utilities. The work required MHI to:

• Provide commissioning supervision of converter stations and transmission link
• Establish standard operating procedures for the HVDC link and for both Irish and UK utilities
• Design and implement the maintenance program for all system components from digital electronic equipment to high voltage switchgear
• Establish all safety and security requirements for the installations
• Manage the initial operations to very tight performance requirements while training local counterparts.
• MHI staff received bonuses at the end of the assignment due to exceeding the project’s performance requirements.
