Regional Electric Energy Project - Gender Equity, Human Rights, Discrimination and Harassment Component

This component of the Regional Electric Energy Project in Central America consisted of three Missions to various countries in Central America as well as Winnipeg, Canada to accomplish the proposed objectives.

The three objectives of this component were to address Gender Equity/ Employment Systems Review Processes, Human Rights & Respectful Workplace Policies, and Harassment and Discrimination Investigations and protocols.

The strategy was to accomplish better human rights practices by providing direct training and training materials to the employees of the utilities and their representatives.

Mission #1: Guatemala - Gender Equity/Employment Systems Review (ESR) Process;

  • MHI created a training manual and delivered training to several electrical utility representatives on how to conduct an ESR to facilitate gender equity and ultimately, gender equality.

Mission #2: El Salvador - Human Rights, Respectful Workplace;

  • MHI assisted in creating a Respectful Workplace Policy and corresponding training materials and assisted in training all employees of LaGeo utility.

Mission #3: Winnipeg - Employment Equity, Human Rights and Harassment & Discrimination Investigation processes/protocols;

  • MHI created training manuals focused on Employment Equity, ESR, Human Rights, Respectful Workplace and Harassment & Discrimination Investigation processes/protocols. Diane & Rich delivered training to representatives from Guatemala, El Salvador & Honduras.
