Nile Equatorial Lakes Subsidiary Action Program
MHI carried out a study on Financing and Implementation Arrangements for Regional Hydro Power Generation and Multipurpose Projects in the Nile Equatorial Lakes Region. The objective of this assignment was to support the World Bank in up-stream economic and financial analysis of a selected number of high priority multi-country and multi-purpose power generation investment projects identified under the SSEA study. The analysis provided additional information and proposals to support the conceptual design and possible development of these projects, by providing pro forma financing arrangements for multipurpose hydropower projects including a preliminary assessment of how generated economic benefits may impact financial performance and implementation arrangements, in particular the presence of public goods and the possibility of sourcing grant financing to monetize these benefits and exploring possible institutional, contractual and implementation arrangements.
