A Transmission Master Plan for Argentina

MHI developed a long-term Transmission Master Plan for Argentina’s power system from 2018-2033. MHI performed long-term transmission planning studies for various generation planning scenarios (including those with high penetration of variable renewable generation). Our team identified critical transmission expansions during the studies and developed the master plan to accommodate generation planning alternatives.

MHI’s team developed an evaluation program to assess alternative expansion options based on a multi-criteria scheme. The criteria included technical/economic benefits, regulatory, environmental implications, and high-level specification of all equipment required for the expansions.

“The collaborative discussions with our client contributed to a successful project,” said Bathiya Jayasekara, Project Manager and Technical Expert. “This master plan will form the basis for Argentina’s decarbonization initiatives moving forward.”

MHI has become a key player in supporting the decarbonization initiatives of utilities around the world, including the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Indonesia, and the Greater Mekong Subregion in Southeast Asia.
