This September, Managing Director, Michele McClymont, along with project managers, travelled to the Moldovan capital of Chișinău to kickoff MHI’s Moldova-Romania Power Interconnection Phase 1 – PIU Consultancy Services project. Representatives from sub-consultants Teshmont, TGS, and ED-C also joined for the kickoff meetings.

With the project now underway, MHI and its sub-consultants will provide consulting services to SE Moldelectrica’s Project Implementation Unit (PIU). The PIU is responsible for the overall design and construction of a back-to-back 600-MW converter station and related 400-kVAC substation that will interconnect the Romanian and Moldovan power systems

As the PIU consultant, MHI will provide support in all aspects of project implementation, including system studies, preparation of input data for detailed designs, development of technical specifications and tender documents, vender evaluations and selection, contract negotiations and finalization, construction and commissioning oversight, and project closeout and turnover to operations. 

MHI is also responsible for the implementation and monitoring of the Environmental and Social Impact Mitigation Plan.
