Construction Supervision & Owner’s Engineer

Manitoba Hydro has over 80 years of experience developing power systems on a sustainable and self-reliant basis. Using the knowledge and experience of our parent company, we have provided complete construction supervision of generation, transmission, and distribution infrastructure in countries around the world.

Acting in the capacity of owner’s engineer, we are able to provide the following services:

  • Detailed review and analysis of project documentation and contractual items, in accordance with internationally accepted industry best practices, to assess any deficiencies and make recommendations to mitigate any potential problems.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive project and construction management programs that include detailed documentation of policy and procedures for the primary components.
  • Develop detailed schedules of activities for construction supervision work.
  • Provide ongoing project and construction management activities.
  • Supervise infrastructure and equipment commissioning.
  • Prepare project completion documentation and finalization of all project activities.

Project Supervision Consultant

We partnered with Lahmeyer International (LI) on the Project Supervision Consultant (PSC) contract of Tanahu Hydroelectric Power Plant in Nepal (an Asian Development Bank-funded project). LI is acting as the lead firm, in association with us, to oversee the construction contractor selection, construction supervision, and operation and maintenance supervision of the 140-megawatt (MW) plant.

The PSC will be responsible for supporting Tanahu Hydro Ltd. in the following areas:

  • Project administration, design, and engineering services;
  • Contracting, management control, procurement, and expediting of equipment;
  • Materials control;
  • Inspection of equipment before delivery;
  • Shipment, transportation, control of schedule, and quality;
  • Pre-commissioning and completion;
  • Performance guarantee testing;
  • Inventorying spare-parts;
  • Training of owner's/plant sub-system operating and maintenance personnel;
  • Financial, human resources, and administrative management of the project both during construction and the operation phase under the company’s board.
