Building Energy Connections in Paraguay

Our team recently had the opportunity to travel to Paraguay to participate in Energy Week—a key event organized by OLADE, the Latin American Energy Organization.

As part of the visit, Daniel Jacobowitz (Senior Project Manager) and Wesley Mueller (Managing Director) traveled to the Chaco Region. Our stops included Loma Plata and Filadelfia —vibrant communities with strong economic foundations built on thriving beef and dairy industries.

With continued economic growth, the region’s energy needs are rapidly expanding. MHI is well-positioned to support this development through our specialized training programs and consulting services, offering solutions tailored to evolving energy demands.

Throughout the trip, the team discussed High Voltage Padmount Transformers (HVPTs)—a modern, compact, and environmentally friendly alternative to conventional substations. These systems offer an efficient solution for growing communities like those in the Chaco Region.

Our visit underscored the value of building international partnerships and highlighted opportunities for sustainable energy development rooted in both technological innovation and shared history.

These regions share a unique historical connection with Manitoba, Canada. Many of the area's residents are descendants of Mennonite settlers who emigrated from Manitoba during the 1920s and 1930s, and familial ties remain strong to this day.
