As we continue to work through the COVID-19 pandemic, the health and safety of our employees and customers remain our top priority. We are taking all possible precautions to ensure our projects continue to run safely. While our home office staff work remotely, we are following the directives of the Federal Government of Canada and the guidelines of foreign countries to ensure the safety of our long-term project staff working abroad.

MHI contractors deemed essential, who are operating utilities in foreign countries, have implemented pandemic plans and procedures for each utility. All contractors are currently working from their in-country homes and avoiding all non-essential travel.

We have confirmed that International SOS (ISOS) and our insurance policy provider continue to operate and support our contractors and their families currently working abroad.

MHI’s resources are available to all contractors and accompanying family members working in foreign countries. These resources include:

  • MHI Logistics assistance and support available 24/7;

  • Access to ISOS Emotional Support Services by phone or video conference 24/7;

  • Access to ISOS Medical Team by teleconference or videoconference;

  • Medical referral to in-country vetted medical provider following pandemic processes and guidelines;

  • Medical evacuation capability following pandemic guidelines for all medical emergencies;

  • Insurance providers confirmation claims accepted when working in foreign countries no exclusions or limitations during the COVID-19 pandemic;

  • Foreign Embassy assistance to repatriate contractors and family members on commercial airlines once the mission is complete or for those that identify as vulnerable;

  • Access to Commercial Airlines Global Team and Emergency Help Desk for support services and assistance;

  • MHI Logistics in close contact with all contractors and family members to provide updates and support as needed;

  • Access to MHI IT Help Desk for technical support ensuring contractors stay connected and have the resources, equipment and tools to work effectively.

We thank all our employees and contractors for your commitment to working safely. We continue to follow pandemic safety procedures and guidelines in all project countries and to refer to our pandemic plan to support our employees, contractors, and customers.
