Starting in June 2016, Hatch and MHI will assist the Government of Nepal to assess the current national dam safety framework and provide recommendations on how to strengthen it. As a subconsultant, MHI will work with Hatch to review the current guidelines for studying and designing hydropower generation projects, including dam safety aspects and updating selected priority subjects. In addition, the project team will review dam safety practices and standards for operating hydropower generation facilities in Nepal. Hatch and MHI will provide recommendations on how to enhance the dam safety framework along with a roadmap and capacity development action plan. MHI will focus on hydrological, geotechnical, and environmental work.
