On behalf of of the Government of Sierra Leone, the Ministry of Energy selected MHI (in association with Hatch) to perform services related to 2-damaged turbines at the Bumbuna Hydro Electric Plant. The overarching objective of this project was to return the turbines to service, as efficiently as possible and in a manner that promoted reliability.
MHI conducted a plant inspection and root cause analysis, followed by a review of the electrical plant and power system, and a report on its electrical findings. MHI also performed a review of the operating model and the operator. The reviews produced by MHI, in conjunction with Hatch, provided a strong basis for MHI’s recommendations on the operation and maintenance of this plant, as well as its development into the future.
This project commenced in July 2013.
