MHI has been selected to support a four-phase modernization initiative with Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC) to help modernize the utility's business processes and prepare it for future digital transformation initiatives. The project is funded by the World Bank and reinforces MHI's long-standing partnership with Liberia's electricity sector.
MHI will assess and optimize LEC's existing business processes, develop implementation roadmaps, and support the procurement of implementation contractors. The project will also help prepare the utility for future initiatives, including Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) deployment and customer and network asset mapping.
The assignment builds on MHI's long-standing relationship with Liberia's electricity sector. Previous work with LEC includes the Management Contract (2010–2016), the Fast-Tracked Training Program (2012–2014), and the Mount Coffee Hydropower Reconstruction Project (2012–2017). This experience provides MHI with a strong understanding of the utility's operating environment and positions the project team to deliver practical, sustainable solutions.
Business process optimization is an important step in enabling utilities to improve operational efficiency and prepare for the adoption of new technologies. Through this project, MHI will support LEC in strengthening its organizational processes and creating a roadmap for future modernization initiatives that enhance service delivery and operational performance.
This project reinforces MHI's commitment to helping utilities around the world improve performance, strengthen institutional capacity, and successfully navigate complex business and operational transformations.
