Built along the Saskatchewan River by Manitoba Hydro between 1960 and 1968, the Grand Rapids Generating Station was the first hydroelectric generating station in Northern Manitoba. After major upgrades in 2000, the station’s capacity increased to approximately 480 MW. 

Moving forward, MHI will operate as a virtual company and all employees will be working from home or a safe remote location.

In honour of Women’s Day, we’ve chosen to highlight some of the inspiring stories of the amazing women who work at MHI. The theme of this year’s Women’s Day is ‘I am Generation Equality’. Working in traditionally male-dominated roles, these women have established themselves in the energy industry.

While on holiday through Indonesia, Beverly was drawn to the beautiful wood and coral doorways. Found throughout Bali, the doors are ornately decorated with traditional hand carvings that can take local artisans months to complete. 

In December, the beginning of summer in New Zealand,  Adam trekked up Cemetery Hill and captured this view overlooking Queenstown and Lake Wakatipu. 

Michele McClymont, Managing Director of Manitoba Hydro International Utility Services (MHIUS), is relatively new to the energy utility industry. However, her background in strategic marketing has helped her focus on what makes the business work.

This course is intended for practising engineers, technologists, and technicians working in utilities and consulting fields. Participants will develop an understanding of overhead electrical distribution design including sub-transmission lines.

The Mutrah Corniche follows a long stretch of coastline between a small mountain range and the Gulf of Oman. It’s lined with beautiful architecture, mosques, fountains, and gardens, and is a popular walking route for locals.

MHI has been selected for a four-year management services contract for the Société Béninoise d’Énergie Électrique (SBEE), the national utility primarily responsible for the distribution and commercialization of energy throughout the country.
