In 2006, MHI was working with the Artumas Group Inc. building and commissioning an 18-MW natural gas-fired reciprocating engine power plant that would ultimately generate reliable energy for three nearby villages. On Christmas Eve, the team brought the first generator online, giving the community uninterrupted power.

Every year, as part of our corporate social responsibly initiative, we choose to donate funds to local charities. Our employees are encouraged to nominate projects for consideration, and are active participants in the planning, fundraising, and implementation of each initiative.

MHI is currently working on a five-year project focused on improving performance in Nigeria’s distribution sector. In addition to other ongoing activities, we are providing technical training and capacity building programs within the distribution companies.

This photo was taken in the early morning from the patio of MHI, when the frost was still on the trees. It’s a beautiful reminder of the undisturbed, quiet serenity of nature which begs to infuse us and calm our busy thoughts and lives.

Matlock is one of three communities that makeup the Village of Dunnottar. My great grandfather purchased a cottage in Matlock in 1920. Next year is the 100th year of our family spending summers in Matlock, and one of my favourite parts is going to the pier in the evening, to enjoy the magical sunsets.

During a recent assignment in Uganda, Robyn had the opportunity to travel to the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park to see mountain gorillas. The drive from Kampala took about 10 hours through a varied and stunning landscape.

Rows upon rows of meters were once used to monitor the generators at the Stave Falls Powerhouse - a decommissioned powerhouse-turned museum. The meters all show zero now, but for close to 100 years, they informed operators about the status of the generators.

Since June, MHI has been working with The Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company (ZETDC) to develop a new masterplan.
