MHI's New Project in Jamaica

Since August, MHI has been providing services for the Preparation of New Regulations and Tariff Options for Renewable Energy and Alternative Energy Sources Project in Jamaica. The electricity sector in Jamaica is undergoing a major fuel diversification transition with the implementation of Liquid Natural Gas, as a fuel for several Jamaica Public Service Company’s power plants. New fuels, technologies, and generation concepts will be introduced.

MHI (in association with MRC Consultants and Transaction Advisors) is helping the Ministry of Science, Energy, and Technology (MSET) to understand the implications of these changes to the energy sector, as well as the opportunities and challenges. MHI analyzed and presented international best practices, and made recommendations to support the preparation of new regulations and tariff methodologies for renewable energy and alternative energy sources.
